Bio:
As many of you know I started as a Reserve Deputy in 1980 with the Harris County Sheriff's department, Houston and wrapped up with the King County Police in Seattle. I am currently in, I believe, my 8th year with the Arizona Rangers, and have been a FTO, Assistant Training Sergeant/Range Master, XO, and Company Commander; rather than re-hash experience many of you already know about, consider what we have initiated or accomplished in the past two years.
We adopted the new AZPOST handgun qualification course.
We created a ceremonial revolver qualificatoin course.
We proposed and authorized lever action carbines for ceremonial/living history events.
We expanded the Honor Guard; however one member also retired so we continue to recruit members of the unit.
We established a library of 10 video classes for new recruits/probationary Rangers with initial rollout in the January 2025 ARTA.
We established ARTA presentations on a Regional Command basis to combat increasing travel expenses and increase the frequency of ARTA offerings given growth of the organization.
We distributed a FTO manual for use at the company level.
We resurrected Train the Trainer after a brief hiatus.
We staged handgun and carbine training classes on a stand alone basis for those wanting/needing additional training.
On the horizon are initiatives to enhance the organization wide understading of critical parts of the policy manual and refined policy amendments with regard to use of force and fiearms incidents and the reporting therefor.
We address training issues as they arise based upon advice from the BOD and BOG; that should be expected to continue.
I would appreciate your support, be safe everyone.
